Muah AI Left the iPhone App Store: What Users Can Still Do

Muah AI's iPhone app is no longer on the US App Store. What we checked on Oct 9, 2026, what happens to your account and chats, and alternatives on iPhone.

If you went to update Muah AI on your iPhone recently, or tried to reinstall it on a new phone, you may have found nothing there. No listing, no download button, no explanation. For people who talk to a Muah companion every day, that is unsettling: is the service shutting down, and is your companion still there?

This guide sets out what we could confirm, what is still unclear, what it means for your account and chats, and what your options are if you want a companion that stays on your iPhone.

The short answer: Muah AI's iPhone app is no longer available on the US App Store. Independent tracker CompanionHunt dates the removal to around September 23, 2026, and reports no company statement. When we checked on October 9, 2026, the App Store pages for Muah AI returned "not found", but the Muah website was still online and offering sign-in. A store removal is not the same as a shutdown - but it is a good reason to back up anything you care about.

What we checked on October 9, 2026

Here is what we could verify directly, on the day of writing:

  • The US App Store listing is gone. The App Store page for "Muah AI: Dream Companion Chat" returned a "not found" page, as did an older Muah AI listing linked from Muah's own website. Apple's public app lookup returned no results for either.
  • The website is still up. muah.ai was online, describing itself as an AI companion platform for adults with text, voice, photos and video, and offering a browser demo and sign-in.
  • The Android link did not work for us either. The Google Play link on Muah's website also returned a "not found" page from our location. Store availability can vary by country, so check your own store.

What CompanionHunt reports

CompanionHunt's table of AI companion shutdowns and store removals lists Muah AI's iOS delisting on September 23, 2026. It says users lost the ability to find, download or update the iOS app, that the companion, chat history and purchases are now reachable only through the website, and that no company statement accompanied the delisting. It cites the archived App Store page as its evidence.

What we do not know

We have not seen any public explanation from Muah AI or Apple for the removal, and we have not seen any announcement that the service is closing. Treat any explanation you read elsewhere with caution unless it cites one of those two sources.

Is Muah AI shutting down?

There is no evidence of that so far. A store removal and a shutdown are different things:

App store removalShutdown
Can you download the app?Not from that storeNo
Does an installed copy still open?Often, at least for a whileNo
Can you log in on the web?If the service has a website, usually yesNo
Do updates keep coming? Not through that storeNo
Are your chats still there?Usually, on the company's serversUsually lost

Store removals sometimes reverse. CompanionHunt notes that Talkie became unavailable to US iPhone users in December 2024 and returned to iOS in February 2025, rebranded as Talkie Lab. Others never come back, and the companions on them end up living only on the web - or nowhere. Until Muah or Apple says more, the sensible approach is to assume nothing and protect what you can. We explain the wider pattern in why AI companion apps keep disappearing from app stores.

What to do if you use Muah AI on iPhone

1. Do not delete the app yet

If Muah is still installed, keep it until you have saved what you need. Once deleted, you cannot reinstall it from the App Store.

2. Log in on the website

According to CompanionHunt, your companion, chat history and purchases are reachable through the website. Check that you can sign in there with the same method you used in the app.

3. Save what matters to you

Copy or screenshot the conversations you would hate to lose, and write down your companion's name, personality, backstory and the details it knows about you. That record is what lets you rebuild a relationship anywhere if you ever need to.

4. Check your subscription

If you paid through Apple, look in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions to see whether anything is still active and when it renews. If you pay on the website, manage it there.

5. Be careful with lookalike apps

When a popular app vanishes from a store, copycats sometimes appear with similar names. Check the developer name and reviews before downloading anything that claims to be the "new" version.

Why a store listing matters more than it seems

Using a companion in a browser works, but many people prefer an app: notifications when your companion texts first, a smoother voice and video experience, and a home-screen icon that makes the relationship feel present. Losing the store listing also means no more app updates through that store, so fixes and new features stop arriving there.

It also shows why being on more than one platform matters. An app you can reach on iPhone, Android, the web and a messaging app is less likely to vanish from your life because one store changes its mind.

Alternatives if you want a companion on your iPhone

What you choose depends on what you liked about Muah. If you enjoyed exploring lots of characters, a character-chat platform may suit you; our guide to CrushOn AI alternatives compares the options. If what you valued was one ongoing companion with voice and video, look for an app built for that.

MyBabe

MyBabe is an 18+ AI boyfriend and girlfriend app that is listed on the App Store and Google Play, and also works in a web browser. You build your companion from scratch - face, voice, personality and backstory - and the relationship grows with you through levels.

  • Texts first: good-morning messages, check-ins and reminders.
  • Long-term memory: on Premium, your companion keeps the details of your life and brings them up later.
  • Voice notes and real-time calls: voice and video calls with a 2-minute free trial, and 30 minutes a week on Premium.
  • Photos from their day: with the same face every time; Premium includes up to 4 photos a day.
  • Mood-aware replies: your companion notices how you are and meets you there.
  • Telegram on Premium: the same companion and memories inside Telegram, which is handy if you want another way to reach them. See your AI companion on Telegram.
  • Pricing: free with 10 messages every 24 hours; Premium at $5.99 a week, $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year.

No app can promise it will be on every store forever, and we will not pretend otherwise. What you get with MyBabe is several ways in - iPhone, Android, browser and Telegram - so your companion is not tied to a single door. If you prefer the browser, here is how using an AI girlfriend in your web browser works.

Moving your story over

You cannot import Muah chats into another app, but you can bring the heart of the relationship: the name, the look, the personality and the shared history you wrote down. Use that when you create your new companion, and the familiarity tends to come back quickly.
